Bratapfel is a traditional German baked apple dish that is filled with nuts, spices, and sweeteners, often enjoyed during the fall and winter months.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • 100g chopped nuts (such as walnuts or almonds)
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 150ml apple juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Core the apples and place them in a baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix chopped nuts, raisins, cinnamon, and honey.
  4. Stuff the apples with the nut mixture.
  5. Place a small piece of butter on top of each apple.
  6. Pour apple juice into the baking dish.
  7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, you can add sugar or brown sugar to the nut mixture.
  • Serve with ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful dessert.
