- 4 cups beef or chicken stock
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the flour, whisking continuously until a roux forms.
- Slowly add the stock while continuing to whisk to avoid lumps.
- Stir in the red wine, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
