Delicious homemade churros that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a pan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
  3. Allow to cool slightly, then mix in eggs one at a time until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  6. Squeeze strips of dough into hot oil, cutting them to desired lengths.
  7. Fry until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon; roll churros in the mixture while still warm.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough to avoid soggy churros.
  • For a chocolate dipping sauce, melt dark chocolate with a bit of heavy cream.
