A traditional German Christmas punch made with fruit juices and spices.

- 1 liter apple juice
- 500 ml orange juice
- 500 ml water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 5 cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1 lemon (sliced)
- 1 orange (sliced)
- 100 g sugar
- 1 bottle red wine (optional)
- In a large pot, combine apple juice, orange juice, and water.
- Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, and sliced lemon and orange.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until warm, but do not boil.
- Add sugar to taste, stirring until dissolved.
- If using, add red wine and heat through.
- Serve warm in mugs, garnished with a slice of orange.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the red wine.
- Can be made in advance and reheated.
