- 500 grams all-purpose flour
- 100 grams sugar
- 50 grams butter
- 250 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 10 grams yeast
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 liter oil (for frying)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 250 ml heavy cream
- 50 grams powdered sugar
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- In a small pan, heat the milk and add the butter to melt.
- Add the yeast to the warm milk and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Combine the yeast mixture with the flour mixture and add eggs.
- Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
- Let circles rise for another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the dough circles until golden brown.
- For the filling, whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
- Once krapfen are cooled, fill them with the vanilla cream.
Notes
- Best served fresh on the same day.
- You can dust with powdered sugar before serving.
