- 400 grams pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 800 grams canned tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until soft.
- Add the canned tomatoes, sugar, and oregano. Stir well.
- Simmer the sauce for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toss the cooked pasta with the tomato sauce.
- Serve garnished with fresh basil.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes.
- Feel free to add vegetables such as bell peppers or zucchini.
- This recipe can be made vegan by omitting any cheese toppings.
