Delicious traditional Austrian vanilla crescent cookies, perfect for the holiday season.

- 250 grams all-purpose flour
- 125 grams unsalted butter
- 100 grams powdered sugar
- 50 grams ground almonds
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- 100 grams powdered sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar (for coating)
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, powdered sugar, ground almonds, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Knead the dough until it is smooth, then cover and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into small crescent shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Mix the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl.
- While still warm, coat the cookies in the powdered sugar mixture.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.

- These cookies are best enjoyed with a cup of tea or coffee.
